When I Completed my fourth Standard ,My father got transferred to Pulakinar a village between Pollachi & Udumalaipettai. the village had a textile mill & my father‘s bank was located there .My father was provided accommodation in the Staff Quarters of the mill.
I t was a very cool & calm with deserted streets. The houses were typical had same floor plans & was tilled yet it was looking gr8.
There were children always riding or learning to ride on a rented bi cycle. I was also infected by the craze .I asked my dad for a bicycle…after a month odd he got a bicycle. A Maroon Colour BSA-SLR a ladies cycle…My Father said that ur sister will learn first & latter he will teach me…I was dejected as my sister got priority to learn & ride it…for just being 14 months elder to me.
My sister was not much interested in learning it .or my dad was not available to teach her to ride it…
While I was left with the bicycle & no one to teach me..as I haven’t learned the art of balancing it and was not tall enough to man it. I started running with the bicycle and not giving to any one…throughout the weekends I used to run on my feet dragging the cycle…
Wherever I was asked to go to shop or nearby places.. I dragged the bicycle with me…At times I purposely damaged the bicycle to vent my anger …Later some day while dragging the cycle I learned to drive it …
Later The Bi-Cycle became my best friend there & started roaming that township with my Cycle..But I never learnt how to apply brake although was nothing great in it to learn..but…whenever the was need to apply brake I would jump from the bi-cycle & stop it ..Perhaps I would be the first person in this world to use leg brakes for a Bi-Cycle .
